Hiiiiiiiiiii the sun is out, the birds are chirping, I no longer feel like I’m at death’s door, and I’m back with a few recs to start your weekend with!
Listening: The new Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties album
I have been emotionally devastated by every release from Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (the side project of Dan Campbell, lead singer of The Wonder Years), and the latest album, In Lieu of Flowers, is no exception.
Highly recommend that new listeners going back and listen to the band’s albums in sequence — in each one, you follow the narrative arc of Aaron, a fictional character that Campbell has created. You hear about his divorce, his parents, his sister, his friends, his nephew, and you really feel like you’re on the journey alongside him.
Listening: Adrienne Lenker
My husband, always good for a perfect music recommendation, showed me this artist a couple of weeks ago and I have had her on repeat ever since. This one in particular — what a beautiful little song.
Watching: Fallout on Amazon Prime
I am a Fallout girlie! I’ve played the games so much throughout my life and have such a love for them. They are imbued with such a distinct character, so while I was excited by the news of a TV adaptation, I was a bit skeptical that it would actually meet my expectations.
I’m about halfway through now and having a blast. I should have known better than to doubt something that cast Walton Goggins as a bounty hunter ghoul, tbh.
I’m gonna be honest — that’s it from me! Since my last post of recs I started a new job, had six billion freelance projects to work on, and was knocked on my ass by strep throat. Please do not ask if I’ve read anything <3 See you next week!
