Got a New Job, Saw an Eclipse, Bought a Kettlebell
This is where it all turns around for me, folks.
Hi friends. I have risen from the ashes to say that after a pretty big bummer of a Q1, life has been looking up.
Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of writing regularly (*one lone reader cheers faintly in background*) but for now, a quick recap of why I’m feeling good:
I’m in my second week at a new job doing social and communications for a public health nonprofit. That’s right — I have defeated unemployment, the long national nightmare is over, etc. 🙌 I feel good and am eager to leave my days of wallowing in the past. Onward!
I saw an eclipse!!! I watched it from the college campus where my husband works, and not to be a total sap but there was something so lovely about seeing everyone collectively drop everything and marvel at the sky!
Bought a kettlebell. Did it sit untouched for nearly three weeks before I decided I should use it? Yes. But I did my first workout with it today and I feel like a new woman. I’ve been soooo bored with pilates and general at-home no-equipment workouts — who knew I just needed to lift a little guy into the air to feel something?
I started watching Below Deck and am currently in Season 3, just after the (apparently infamous) galley fire debacle. Nothing is more important to me at this moment than the crew of Eros finishing out the charter season without disappointing Captain Lee any further.
This may be the start of a sustained upswing in my mood and ambition and general trajectory in life. I’m going to drink more water and wake up earlier. New job, new me. All my problems are solved. I think! I hope! For now!
